Reaching the finish line

I love and hate Sundays.  By this point in the weekend, I've got the majority of the planned household chores complete, and I can generally relax and enjoy the day.  On the other hand, it's the last day of the weekend and my mind starts turning towards the work week ahead.  I keep reminding myself I'm heading for the finish line that is retirement (6 1/2 years to go) and then Sunday won't have the same implication.

Today though I will reach a finish line.  A long time ago, I started a project and I'm finally going to finish it ....it only took me eighteen months to get there.  Of course, had I stuck to it at the time, and done a couple of rows every day I'd probably have finished it in a week!  Every time I've picked it up to work on it again, I've had to re-learn the pattern, usually making a couple of errors causing me to redo a row.  Procrastination, though name is Eileen.

Here it is, just five rows and finishing to go:

Today also marks the end of the provincial men's championships for Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta.  That's how I know I'll finish my afghan today....I'll be watching curling almost all day!  Semi-finals are on this morning, while the finals will be played this evening.

I will be taking a break this afternoon to attend the Globe Theatre with my friend K and her partner J.  They have an extra ticket and invited me to join them.

I guess Sunday isn't so bad after all.  Have a great day everyone!

Actually, it sounds like a terrific Sunday. :-)

BTW, I was emailing with a girlfriend last Monday, she was having a difficult day. She had been planning a retirement party for a colleague, only his wife called her that morning to let her know he passed away on Sunday (so a week today).

My point is that we all need to seize the day and the small joys, because we might not even live to enjoy "retirement."

I think you're doing just that today, seizing the small joys!

Sunday is indeed a mixed emotion day. Oh to be rich and not have to wait until retirement to enjoy our Sundays fully. :)
